Orientation Sessions Happening for New NMCC Students

Northern Maine Community College officials are hoping that incoming students will be "TCOB" for the upcoming semester.

New students at NMCC will be encouraged to “take care of business” as they familiarize themselves with both the campus and the college experience during a series of orientation sessions.

Approximately 100 students will be participating in each of the three orientation sessions. The sessions are scheduled for August 15th, 21st and 23rd with each session geared toward a specific group.

Registration for the first session on August 15th begins at 8:00 am in the Akeley Student Center where students can pick up their parking sticker and student ID. That will be followed at 9:00 am by the day’s activities and information on various aspects of making those first weeks of college less stressful and more productive. Students will then have their chance pick up their textbooks, schedule, double check financial aid status and get assistance with technology questions.

The session for Wednesday, August 21st is designed for non-traditional students with registration beginning at 4:30 pm with activities and informational sessions beginning at 5:45. A sandwich buffet will be provided for students and guests in the AK Christie Courtyard.

The final session, August 23rd, is for students who will be living in an NMCC residence hall, with registration beginning at 12:30pm, followed by informational sessions and activities beginning at 1:00pm. Afterwards, the resident students will begin their weekend of activities with the members of the residential life staff, including a service project.

Students in all three sessions will have the chance to win prizes, take “selfies” to post to their personal social media accounts, and be entertained by musician Heath Bartley during mealtime.
