Thanks to the generosity of County residents, the United Way of Aroostook is helping to fill the cupboards of 24 Aroostook food pantries.

$31,000 was pledged during a telethon held back in March. As of mid-April, $21,000 had been collected. The telethon was in partnership with WAGM-TV and all of the funds raised will be evenly distributed among the 24 food pantries in Aroostook. The pantries are serviced by Catholic Charities Maine-Hunger & Relief Services.

35 volunteers were utilized throughout the telethon, answering phones, taking pledges, helping with data input, and whatever needed to be done. They consisted of food pantry volunteers, United Way of Aroostook Board members, as well as community partners.
