Is Your Fridge Stocked With Maine's Most Popular Beer?

Ever wonder if your beer preferences line up with your fellow Mainers? A new study set out to find the answer, and the results may (or may not) surprise you.

According to Food & Wine, a recent report by the German platform Coffeeness analyzed search trends across all 50 states to determine which beer brands Americans are most curious about. They used data from YouGov’s Popularity Ratings and of course Google Trends, they figured out which beers were dominating searches in each state. And for Maine? Turns out it's all about Miller time.

That’s right—Miller Brewing Company took the top spot for us here in Maine, making it the most-searched beer in Maine. But here’s the real question: Are Mainers searching for the "champagne of beers" (Miller High Life) or Miller Lite? Or both? Because, let's be honest, those are two very different drinking experiences.

Maine isn’t alone in its love for Miller beer—according to Food & Wine, the brand was the most-searched in 30 states. That’s some serious beer domination. Meanwhile, our neighbors in New Hampshire are all about Budweiser. Again, Bud Heavy or Bud Light? New Yorkers are apparently alightly fancier with Heineken as their choice of beer.

Of course, this study is all about search interest, not actual beer sales. So while Mainers might be Googling Miller, we all know that we are passionate about our local beers like Allagash White, Maine Beer Company's Lunch and Bissell Brothers Swish.
