Man Sentenced for Discharging Firearm at RCMP Detachment

A New Brunswick man from the Tobique First Nation has been sentenced for firing shots at the local RCMP detachment last spring.

Officials arrived at the Tobique First Nation RCMP detachment on May 20. 2018, and found several bullet holes in the back and side of the building. There were no injuries in the incident.

26-year-old Nekko Dominique was arrested the next day and later charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm while prohibited, mischief over $5,000 and breaching an undertaking.

Dominique appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court last Friday and was sentenced to four years in prison, minus the time he has already served. He also cannot own a firearm for the rest of his life.
