Officials say Aldo Dicenso of the Boston area was out looking for moose at dusk on July 10.  He was about 30 miles in on the Golden Road when a moose ran in front of his truck. Dicenso swerved and his vehicle hit the shoulder of the road and rolled onto its side.

The man was thrown from his vehicle and suffered a head injury.  Due to his injuries and lack of cell phone service in that remote area, Dicenso remained there in the dark, unable to call for help.

Several hours later, Brian Nutting, also known as ‘Bone Crusher’ from the Discovery Channel reality show American Loggers, came across the accident.  According to Millinocket Fire Chief Andrew Turcotte, Nutting reported the crash to Millinocket PD.

Nutting told Sgt. Gary Lakeman that he had to drive back down the Golden Road until he could a clear cell signal. He informed police of the crash location, and reported that a man had been ejected from his vehicle.

Rescue personnel arrived within 25 minutes. Dicenso was taken to Millinocket Regional Hospital  with cuts to his face that required numerous stitches.

The Golden Road is a 100-mile-long road that runs past Mt. Katahdin and into Quebec.
