Man Dies in Maine’s First Fatal Car-Moose Collision of 2018
A 54-year-old Winslow man died after hitting a moose Friday night on I-95 in Medway. The accident was Maine’s first fatal collision of a car and moose in 2018.
Donnie Wilcox collided with the bull moose around 10 PM Friday as he was traveling southbound on interstate 95 in Medway, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
The moose hit the windshield and the impact peeled back the roof of the Subaru, said McCausland.
Officials said people came across the scene shortly after the crash, but there were no witnesses to the accident.
Wilcox died at the scene, said McCausland.
