The collision happened shortly after 6 p.m. on Rue Desroches, according to Cpl. Guy Marquis.

Brunswick News reports Maurice Collette of Bouctouche was in a truck and was guiding a tractor-trailer carrying a sleigh to a local Santa Claus parade. It appears the Collette had pulled his truck over in the eastbound lane and got out of the cab to check the trailer when he was struck by an oncoming car.

Police say the man died at the scene from his injuries.

The Southeast District RCMP continues their investigation.
