
This Rare Maine Deer Sighting Has Everyone Talking
Honestly, there really is nothing quite like seeing wildlife up close and personal, but lately, it sort of feels like they’re getting too close.
The other morning, I was out walking MoonDog through a pretty typical suburban neighborhood, not exactly deep woods and we saw not one, not two, but eight deer running across the road. So many deer at one time.
And it makes you stop and think, this is becoming more and more normal.
Deer are showing more across Maine as development pushes into their habitat and they are getting used to us, humans. Just be careful not to get too close.
Now, add this to the wildlife equation,
A rare piebald deer was recently spotted in southern Maine, according to WABI.

Piebald deer have a very unique genetic condition that gives them patches of white mixed with their normal brown color. They are really uncommon, and only make up less then 1% of the deer population, as per the article.

They almost don’t look real when you see one.
While sightings like that are exciting, they also really show us just how much wildlife is moving through populated areas right now.
