Maine Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault

A 24-year-old man was arrested for a reported aggravated assault in Lebanon, Maine Wednesday around 12:30 pm.

Police said Sumner Knowles allegedly strangled another man at a Lebanon home Monday night around 9:30 pm. He fled the scene before authorities arrived.

A warrant was issued for his arrest for Aggravated Assault.

Officials said they spoke to Knowles Wednesday morning around 10 am. He said he was not going to turn himself in and that police would not be able to find him.

Troopers located him at 12:30 pm Wednesday in a vehicle on Route 202 in Lebanon, and arrested him without incident.

Knowles was taken to the York County jail. His bail is $2,000.00.
