Maine Hostage Taker Took His Own Life, Medical Examiner Says
The Maine State Medical Examiner has determined that a man involved in a police standoff after taking three people hostage in a Livermore Falls home, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Authorities say 44-year-old Donald White of Jay was shot during the standoff by a state trooper but that injury was non-lethal.
The Maine Attorney General's Office continues to investigate the trooper’s use of deadly force.
