
Massachusetts Man Sentenced for a 2024 Drive-by Shooting in Maine
A Massachusetts man was sentenced this week in a Portland, Maine, courtroom for a drive-by shooting and subsequent police chase that involved hitting a school bus.
3 Massachusetts Men Pleaded Guilty for a Drive-by Shooting in Maine
Jason Johnson-Rivera, 20, is sentenced to 10 years in prison, to be followed by four years of supervised release. Johnson-Rivera pleaded guilty in January.
The U.S. Attorney, District of Maine, reports that two co-defendants also pleaded guilty in this case:
- Joshua Estrada (aka 'Mac'), 20
- Yancarlos Abrante (aka 'Glizzy'), 22
They are awaiting sentencing, which is expected later this year.
Maine Drive-by Shooting in Saco Was a Dispute Between Rival Massachusetts Gangs
The men were arrested after a scary incident in Saco, Maine, on February 9, 2024.
Police were called when gunshots were allegedly exchanged between a red Dodge Charger and a gray Honda HRV near the intersection of North and Temple Streets.
Johnson-Rivera, Estrada, and Abrante fired at least five rounds from a 9mm handgun into another vehicle, as part of a dispute over drug territory.

At the time of the shooting, the police said it involved rival gangs from Massachusetts.
Maine School Bus was Hit by Suspect Vehicle from Massachusetts after Drive-by
Shortly after firing on their drug rivals, the men fled the scene, driving against traffic and through a red light.

The suspects' vehicle hit another vehicle and then a school bus before the men fled on foot.
No one was seriously injured because of this incident.
Police say the men had been trafficking cocaine in and around Biddeford since at least January 2024.
