This Maine Beach Named Among Tripadvisor’s 25 Best Beaches
We have so many amazing beaches here in Maine, and one of them has just been named to a list highlighting the best beaches in America!
We love the beach up here in Maine—there’s nothing like that first step onto the sand. Tourists love our beaches too (maybe a little too much), which makes us like them a little less… but just a little.
So, with that in mind, how exactly is this list from Tripadvisor determined? What gives them the authority, and what criteria are they using to pick the best beaches in the country?
Tripadvisor’s ‘Travelers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best Beaches’ list is based on the highest-rated reviews and opinions submitted by Tripadvisor users over the last year. Out of 8 million listings on the site, fewer than 1% earn this award, making it a true reflection of consistent excellence and traveler satisfaction.

Well, with all that said— which popular beach here in Maine was named among Tripadvisor’s list of the 25 best beaches in America?
Sand Beach at Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island earned a spot on Tripadvisor’s list of ‘Travelers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best Beaches,’ ranking at #21. Tripadvisor had the following to say about their selection, noting that descriptions of winners are based on traveler reviews and summarized by AI:
With turquoise-blue waters and soft sand, Sand Beach is the perfect spot for a relaxing beach day. Go for a dip in the sea, ride the waves, or just take in the views. Be sure to stay until the sun goes down for stargazing.
While it’s extremely impressive that one of our Maine beaches made the list highlighting the best beaches in America, are you surprised that we only had one make the cut?
Not only was Sand Beach our lone representative, but it was also the only beach from all of New England and the entire Northeast to be featured—we would’ve loved to see places like Old Orchard Beach, Wells Beach, or Scarborough Beach get some love too.
And there you have it— in a list filled with beaches from Hawaii, Florida, and California, the only New England beach to make the cut is our very own Sand Beach.
Do you agree, or would you have picked a different beach in Maine to represent us on this list? We’d love to hear from you! Feel free to join the conversation by messaging us on the app.
