Kenny Chesney’s ‘All the Pretty Girls’ Video Gives College Kids a Big Break [Watch]
Kenny Chesney's name is synonymous with summer, and the new video for "All the Pretty Girls" paints the picture of the perfect summer fling. The video was directed and produced by the winners of Chesney’s "All the Pretty Girls" music video contest --Belmont students Jessica Martinez and William Renner.
"We thought the first day was only going to be five hours," says motion picture major Martinez, 19, of the shoot in a press release. "But when we got started, we found some more creative things to do. We ended up shooting for 10 hours, with an hour for lunch."
The three-and-a-half minute clip follows a group of girls getting ready for a house party later that day. They run into a few boys at the convenience store picking up some beers when they realize they don't have enough money at checkout. One of the friends is quick on her feet and asks to borrow some money from one of the guys and invites him over to the party afterward. Their relationship quickly develops on screen through house parties, bonfires, car rides, hiking and creek jumping.
10 Country Songs You Couldn't Stop Singing in 2005
“Our vision was to capture the essence of a summer fling -- just the feeling of freedom and having fun, not taking things too seriously," Martinez says. "Because Will is from Virginia, he was able to get people he knows from high school [to be part of it], which made it really fun to shoot."
Chesney loved the final results, and having gotten his own start playing music in college, the singer knows first hand what an opportunity like this can mean to two college kids.
"It’s cool seeing this creativity from college kids," Chesney says. "They understood how to build a storyline and narrative, and they bring a fresh eye to these moments. [Their clip]’s really sweet, and just what this kind of song needed. I’m as thrilled to be part of Jessica’s college education as I am to have her -- and Will’s -- creativity be a part of this song. To create something at this level when you’re in college is a huge thing. In 'the real world,' this is the kind of accomplishment people look at. But I think what’s so great about their ‘All the Pretty Girls’ video is you can also see how they translate their hearts into the work. People will see this, and know what Jessica and Ryan are capable of.”
"All the Pretty Girls" was written by Nicolle Galyon, Tommy Lee James and Josh Osborne. It's the fourth single off Chesney's latest album, Cosmic Hallelujah.
