A Katahdin Trust employee was recently presented a prestigious award.

Joe Clukey, Vice President, Retail Services Officer in Presque Isle, was presented the Top of the Mountain Commitment to Community Award at a recent special company-wide employee appreciation event.

Each year one Katahdin employee is selected for going above and beyond to assist with a variety of worthwhile causes. The award includes a choice of several gifts specifically tailored to the recipient’s interests.

Clukey has been with Katahdin Trust since 1991 and has been an active volunteer in the community. Clukey gave over 100 hours last year to many local organizations such as Rotary Club, of which he is a member, Special Olympics Maine and United Way of Aroostook. Joe also gives of his time teaching financial literacy by participating in Junior Achievement of Maine, Get Smart About Credit Day, and Teach Children to Save Day.

Clukey isn't the only one at Katahdin Trust that shares a commitment to community. According to Jon Prescott, Katahdin Trust President & CEO, Katahdin Trust employees last year volunteered "more than 7,600 hours of their time to 230 non-profit organizations and community events. That’s an equivalent of 950 work days that employees taught financial literacy classes, coached athletic teams, helped at food pantries, and much more.”
