Kacey Musgraves continued her momentous awards season by picking up the 2019 ACM Award for Female Artist of the Year. Musgraves also won the Album of the Year award for her album Golden Hour, which also won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.

Musgraves beat nominees Miranda Lambert — the nine-time ACM Female Vocalist of the Year champion — Ashley McBryde (who won New Female Artist of the Year earlier in the night), Maren Morris and Carrie Underwood for her first Female Artist ACM.

During her brief speech, she dedicated the prize to anybody who has been told their style or perspective is "too different to work," no doubt a callback to her tumultuous history with country record labels that have consistently failed to provide the same sort of support to her albums as others.

Golden Hour racked up plenty of hardware and critical acclaim despite virtually no support from country radio.

Musgraves has been nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year several times, including 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. The category name changed to "Female Artist of the Year" this year.

Despite having another big awards night, Musgraves didn't perform during the ceremony.
