As the mother of a 2 year old girl, I was looking for tips and ideas about potty training. Check out these tips.

We’re still in the process of trying to get my girl potty trained. I've tried incentives for her such as stickers and lollipops, and last night I even resorted to giving her a snack sized candy bar if she did her business on the potty. So far, it’s been hit or miss really. I try really hard to be consistent with her and reward her. She has gone on the potty several times for me, so I’d say we’re on the right track.

I found some tips I’d like to share for those moms and dads out there who may be struggling with whether their child is ready for potty training and even some rewards and keys to successful potty training.

  • First, you need to ask yourself, is it time? Is your child interested in the potty?
  • When you decide the time is right, put a plan in motion and stay positive.
  • Schedule potty breaks. I try ever hour that I can when I’m home with my child.
  • Get there and fast when your child is giving you the signs that he or she has to go.
  • Consider incentives. Like I said, I have tried multiple rewards.
  • Get rid of the diapers when your child has gone on the potty consistently for several weeks.
  • And most importantly, know when to call it quits. If your child resists the potty, he or she may not be ready. That’s okay, don’t push them, and try again in a few weeks.

The key to successful potty training is patience, which really is not my strong suit, but I’m trying. Do you have any tips?
