Jason Aldean asked Miranda Lambert to sing on one of his albums, again. The pair team up for "Drowns the Whiskey" on his upcoming Rearview Town album. It's not too much of a departure from their first collaboration.

"Grown Woman" is a song on Aldean's 2007 Relentless album. The ballad, while thematically different, is likely to please the same fans of "Drowns the Whiskey," a slightly more uptempo but still melancholy song from Rearview Town, which is set for release on April 13. Neither are truly duets — the pair harmonize throughout the songs, but do so in very different ways. Lambert's voice is but a detail of the 11-year-old album cut, but she stands out on "Drowns the Whiskey."

"A grown woman / Should've known better than to treat me like some / Old lipstick you use up and throw away / Hey, hey hey," they sing at the chorus of the very traditional "Grown Woman."

"Drowns the Whiskey" is a more progressive country song with traditional country themes, and it's the only collaboration on Aldean's 2018 studio album. Lambert is known for having one-of-a-kind harmonies that don't follow genre rules at all times. Neal McCoy once told Taste of Country about this, praising his friend's capabilities in the recording studio. Quietly she's put together a list of collabs that would make a fine greatest hits album, and "Drowns the Whiskey" may as well get added.

Aldean's Relentless album notched Top 10 hits in "Johnny Cash" and "Laughed Until We Cried" and a Top 20 single in the title track. It's his only album that didn't produce a No. 1 hit. Rearview Town, on the other hand, is close to netting a chart-topper with lead single "You Make It Easy." Lambert does not currently have a single on the radio. Perhaps Aldean could release "Drowns the Whiskey" next?
