Here’s What is Replacing Christmas Tree Shops in Scarborough, Maine
While some well-known brands and chains across America continue to struggle, others are thriving. One of those chains happens to be Floor & Decor which, as their name suggests, specializes in home improvement supplies.
Floor & Decor has doubled its footprint in just the last decade, operating stores across the country in 33 states. But they're about to make it 34 states, because Floor & Decor will open their first Maine location in Scarborough.
Construction is ongoing to transform the old Christmas Tree Shops on Payne Road into a new Floor & Decor store. Signs are prominent outside, and promising that Floor & Decor is coming soon, although renovations to transform the store are likely to take some time.
Floor & Decor stores boast a large footprint of everything from tile and wood to stone and laminate. According to Comparably, they rank higher in customer satisfaction with both products and service than their big-box competitors like Home Depot and Lowe's.
While a new Floor & Decor will be exciting to some, watching the Christmas Tree Shops being wiped away will be bittersweet for many. Last year, Christmas Tree Shops filed for bankruptcy, with a decision being made shortly thereafter to simply shut down stores and eliminate the brand.
While many of those Christmas Tree Shops stores across New England remain vacant, the prime real estate in Scarborough near the Maine Mall was just too good to stay empty for long.
As of this writing, there is no grand opening date for Floor & Decor in Scarborough, Maine.
