When driving along Route 4 in Phillips, Maine, you won't see much. This tiny town of just 898 residents is a bit out of the way for most people and very rural. However, there is something very unique in Phillips that you don't find in many other places in Maine.

This small donut stand is well hidden, but if you know where to find it, you're in for a treat. Clifford's Donut Stop makes fresh, homemade local donuts three days a week. Thursday, Friday and Saturday you'll find fresh donuts at the Donut Stop but no one there for you to pay for your donuts. So how does it work?

Clifford's Donut Stop Honor System

The tried and true honor system is in place at the donut shop and customers are very willing to pay. Just get a look at these donuts!

So how does it work? Well, there are a few ways you can pay for your donuts. You can Venmo your payment, you scan a QR code to get a link that allows you to pay, or leave cash. Pretty convenient!

Where is Clifford's Donut Stop?

That's the mystery, isn't it? When I plugged in the address for Clifford's Donut Stop into Google Maps, it sent me here. This is a street view of the location that Google Maps says is where the donut stop is, but you see nothing but trees from Route 4.

After looking at the satellite view of the map, there's a building behind these trees that appears to be a Clifford's Donut Shop, but not Clifford's Donut Stop. I guess that if you look around the area at 2427 Rangeley Road, in Phillips, you may find what you're looking for. Let me know how good those donuts are okay?
