Can we all agree that we'd rather do something other than work?

Unless you are one of the fortunate few on Earth, that are successfully self-employed and have a career that involves your life's greatest passion, you probably spend most of the time wishing that somehow we could fast-forward to Star Trek times, where it seems like no one works, but no one worries about it.

On the other hand, there are plenty of people who live somewhere in the middle. We all hope to find a career that will satisfy us on some level. Sometimes though, geography can play into all that. Sometimes, you just need to go where the jobs are. And there are certainly states where that's easier than others.

If you're looking for a new job, New England is the place to go.

Literally, all of the New England states are hopping with jobs right now. Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont are dominating the job markets in the US. NH and VT are in the top spots, with Maine coming in at #7. Connecticut didn't make the Top 10 at all. Maybe it's because of how badly they drive? Hahaha.

Actually, they weren't too far away at #12. But overall in New England, we have a lot of available jobs, we have fairly low numbers living in poverty compared to other areas of the country. That fact alone should give you an idea of how bad it is in other places. Maine has a fairly high minimum wage. People in other states are still trying to pay the bills on $7.50 an hour.

There's always room for improvement.

This latest survey from WalletHub.com is full of some interesting insights, as far as how we shake out compared to the rest of the country. But let's be real, as good as it may be for us, there are still plenty of people who need better job opportunities and housing right here in our own back yard.

You figure in life, someone is always gonna have it a little better than you. And someone will inevitably have it worse than you. It's useless in life to compare yourself to others. But again, sometimes that leg up you need, is just to simply go where the work is. It's pretty clear here, that New England is the spot. At least for now...
