Stephen King’s Bangor, Maine House Is Off-Limits On Halloween
Halloween is almost here! Come to Bangor, but don't stop on West Broadway!
You really can't drive down West Broadway in Bangor without spotting someone gawking at Stephen King's famous house. Trust me, I know...I live right in the neighborhood!
Just about every day, when I drive past the street, there's at least one car parked along the side of the road, with people snapping pictures, trying to get a better look at the property, or simply soaking in the excitement of being there.
It's all pretty normal to me, but Stephen King's house draws fans from all over the world who want to see where the master of horror lives.
With the spookiest night of the year arriving soon, plenty of people are making the trip to Bangor to catch a glimpse of the iconic home belonging to the city's most famous resident.

Here's a helpful hint: If you're thinking about stopping by Stephen King's West Broadway home to trick-or-treat, you'll be out of luck.
In fact, the master of horror himself has made it clear: Don't come to my house on Halloween.
It's a lot of people to accommodate, and the Halloween tradition at the house is no longer happening. Besides, Stephen and his wife, Tabitha, spend much of their time at their second home in Florida.
But don't worry, there are other ways to celebrate Halloween Stephen King-style!
As any hardcore Stephen King fan knows, Bangor helped inspire the fictional town of Derry, Maine, which has appeared in several of his novels and short stories.
No Stephen King sightseeing trip is complete without a few classic stops, including Mount Hope Cemetery, the Paul Bunyan statue, the corner of Jackson and Union streets, the Thomas Hill Standpipe, and, of course, the famous West Broadway house.
Just remember to be respectful of the neighborhood and the people who live there. You can admire the property from a distance without trespassing or disturbing the residents.
If you're planning a visit, Sk-Tours offers a unique experience for Stephen King fans right here in Bangor.
The people behind the tour — Penney, Jamie, and Stu — are perfect guides for the job. They spent two decades owning and operating a bookstore specializing in King's books and memorabilia. You can learn more about their story here.
So, if you're heading to Bangor for a little Halloween horror, there's plenty to explore. Just remember: enjoy the Stephen King sights, but leave the trick-or-treating at his house off your itinerary!
Happy Halloween!
