Rumford, Maine Police Report an Axe Attack Over a Motorcycle

In an unrelated call, Rumford Police Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a woman was attacking a resident of Madison's condos with an axe during an argument at approximately 11:57 am.

An investigation determined the 44-year-old male victim had arranged through social media for a Massachusetts woman to transport his red 1984 Honda GL 1200 motorcycle from his former home in Northborough, Massachusetts, to Rumford.

When Luciane Dezan, 46, of Medford, Massachusetts, arrived with the bike, the victim discovered damage he believed occurred in transit and told the woman he wouldn't pay the full agreed-upon fee.

The two argued, and Dezan allegedly retrieved an axe from her van and began repeatedly striking the motorcycle, causing extensive damage.

When the man attempted to stop her, she allegedly swung the axe at his head, narrowly missing him.

Police estimate the bike sustained approximately $2,000 in damage during the attack.

Dezan was charged with attempted elevated aggravated assault and aggravated criminal mischief and transported to the Oxford County Jail.
