Maine Police are in New Sweden Nearly 2 Years After Teen’s Disappearance

Maine State Police are continuing to investigate the 2024 disappearance of Stefanie Damron.

New Sweden, Maine 13-Year-Old Disappeared Nearly Two Years Ago

On September 23, 2024, 13-year-old Stefanie Damron walked into the woods near her home and never returned.

Officials said it wasn't the first time Stefanie had run away, but this time it felt different.

The alert went out nationwide and even into Canada, which prompted the FBI to get involved early in the investigation.

Multiple Search Efforts Failed to Turn Up Any Clues to Maine Teen's Disappearance

Extensive searches were conducted around her family's home, but no evidence of Stefanie has ever been found.

Even national podcaster Nancy Grace got involved, dedicating one of her shows to the strange circumstances of Stefanie's disappearance after she seemed to vanish into thin air.

The case was also featured on America's Most Wanted: Missing Persons.

Despite all the attention and a search in July 2026 organized by her family, Stefanie has never been found

$15K Reward Offered for Info About Missing Maine Teen Stefanie Damron

Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss said members of the Maine State Police and Maine Warden Service spent Thursday and Friday in New Sweden as they continue their investigation.

Officials say they can't discuss specific efforts or details of the ongoing investigation, but want the public to know they're still dedicated to finding Stefanie.

The FBI continues to offer a reward of up to $15,000 for information that leads to the safe return of Stefanie and/or the arrest and prosecution of anyone involved in her disappearance.
