Cooper Flagg injured his left shoulder Friday, Oct. 23, when Indiana’s Aaron Nesmith fouled him from behind during a dunk attempt shortly before halftime, causing him to land awkwardly under the basket.

Nesmith received a flagrant 1 foul, and Flagg missed the remainder of Dallas’ 121-105 victory before an MRI revealed a mild left shoulder sprain. The Mavericks said he would be reevaluated this week but did not specify a day or what that evaluation would involve.

Nesmith spent a brief stint with the Maine Celtics during the 2021-22 season while on assignment from the Boston Celtics to their NBA G League affiliate in Portland.

In his G League debut on Jan. 9, 2022, he recorded 21 points, nine rebounds, and five assists in Maine’s 117-89 victory over the Wisconsin Herd at the Portland Expo.
