Bomb Threats Called in to Walgreens Stores All Across Maine

A slew of bomb threats prompted police responses and bomb-sniffing dogs from around the state on Thursday, according to WABI TV 5.

The article goes on to explain that police responded to the Walgreens location on Marginal Way in Portland on Thursday just after 11 am. Police say that a bomb threat was called to the store manager at that location.

Police and staff evacuated the Walgreens store while bomb-sniffing dogs were brought in to investigate, according to the news station, and fortunately, no explosive material was found and the threat was deemed to be not credible.

About half an hour later, another bomb threat was called in, this time to the Walgreens location on Roosevelt Trail in Windham, Maine, the news station reported. Police again responded, evacuated the building and searched for any signs of danger. Subsequently, there was nothing found and the store was reopened, WABI reported.

The news station goes on to say that while this was happening in Portland and Windham, several other Walgreens locations throughout Maine were also dealing with threats of bombs. However, none of the threats that came in on Thursday ended up being credible.

Currently, there is no word on who is responsible for the phone calls or if the police have any people of interest they are looking at.

Walgreens has dozens of locations throughout Maine including stores in Augusta, Manchester, Gardiner, Winthrop, Oakland, Fairfield, Auburn, Bath, Winslow, Topsham, Lewiston and more.
