Country duo Indigo Summer are premiering the music video for their sultry tune "Wishful Drinking" exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play above to watch.

Indigo summer's Bryan Edwards co-wrote "Wishful Drinking" with Post Monroe's Ashlee Whitley, around the idea of "the one who got away." That subject, Edwards says, "is near and dear to my heart."

"When we were done writing this song, I knew it was something special ... I remember, when I first moved to Nashville, being that guy at a bar or onstage, drinking to forget someone, and I ended up remembering her more," he adds. "That's just how life is sometimes; the truth is rarely what you want it to be when you're heartbroken."

"Wishful Drinking" is a decidedly a solid tune to listen to while nursing your own heartbreak -- and perhaps a glass (or two) of whiskey: "Whiskey and thinkin' ain't nothin' but wishful drinkin'," the duo (Edwards and Hope Nix) croons over a syrupy chorus. "Ain't nothin' but a buzz / Mixed with what was / And that last cigarette / Even the high and the burn of this 90-proof / Only keeps tellin' the truth."

“The second I heard this song, I was so excited to record it. I love that this single gave us the opportunity to bring a stronger side of our vocals to the table," says Nix. ""Wishful Drinking" has a blues feel to it, but still stays true to our sound."

"Wishful Drinking" is Indigo Summer's latest from their much-lauded self-titled 2017 debut album. Now that it's out, they plan to release three more singles in 2018. Fans can keep up with the duo at their website, IndigoSummerMusic.com.
