New Brunswick Crime Stoppers and the Department of Public Safety are asking New Brunswickers to report suspicious activities involving the use, sale, transportation, and distribution of tobacco not purchased from a licensed retailer.

The production and sale of illegal tobacco is not regulated which means, among many things, that the ingredients are not known. Unfortunately, children have easy access to these tobacco products.

Illegal tobacco also has a negative impact on provincial revenues, and supports both organized crime and the underground economy. It is reported that up to 13 million dollars is lost to illegal tobacco each year. This is money that would be better spent supporting healthcare, education, and other social programs.

If you have any information on this illegal activity and wish to remain anonymous, please contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), texting TIP212 + your message to 'CRIMES' (274637), or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest.
