Recently, a Maine veteran who was left high and dry in Mechanic Falls by a contractor received an unexpected gift. All thanks to the generosity of a local business in Maine, according to WGME.

Tom Nile is a 76 year old Maine man who had hired a contractor last year to replace the metal roof on his barn, as per the article.

As WGME stated, Nile paid over $2,000 upfront for material and after a small bit of work, the contractor vanished, without a trace, cashing on the check he did not work for. This left Nile with an unfinished roof project and no way to get ahold of the mysterious contractor.

Nile said, "I tried to reach him, but he wouldn’t answer his phone or anything,"

Nile is a veteran and in Maine, I'd like to thing these things don't happen to anyone, especially the folks that fought for our freedom.

After hearing about Nile's dilemma, Daelyn Roderick, the owner of D& R Construction in Bangor felt he had to help.

Roderick said, "We saw that he was a veteran, and after hearing about his situation, we decided to step up and take on the job for free," WGME

This is where the magic in life is born. Within just days, Roderick pulled a team of volunteers together, grabbed donated materials from business like Hammond Lumber.
