Horse Buggy & Truck Collide in Smyrna, Maine

A horse was killed and two children injured Wednesday afternoon when a trailer truck and horse buggy collided in Smyrna at Route 2 and Upland Trail.

Maine State Police said a 12-year-old male drove the buggy directly into the path of a trailer truck driven by 37-year-old Nicholas Beaulieu from Island Falls. The accident happened at 3:10 p.m. Thursday.

The horse was killed and the buggy was re-directed to the southern side of the road. Seven children were riding in the buggy. Two had minor injuries, said State Police.

Trooper Adams & Trooper Recruit French responded the accident. The Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit was on scene as well.
