Recently, the town of Lincoln came together to honor one remarkable man, who we would all be lucky to know. Since we can't all meet him, let's all get to know what he's done for us.

According to WABI, Bob Miller is a decorated World War II veteran and he celebrated his 101st birthday this weekend at Our Heroes Military Museum.

Bob was born over 100 years ago, on December 7, 1923, and his life has been a testament to courage, service, and a never ending commitment to preserving the stories of those who fought by his side.

This has been a complete path of service Bob has walked throughout this honored life. This path began early for Bob Miller. In 1936, at only 13 years old, he joined the Junior Naval Reserve which set the stage for his life dedicated to his country.

5 years later, in 1941, when the world was put into the chaos of World War II, he enlisted in the Navy.

His participated in nine major engagements, along with numerous skirmishes. Each battle, shaping the man who would later inspire all who knew of his story.

Grab your tissues because it only gets better.

By the time he was 23 years old, Bob had experienced the horrors of war.

In 1947, after serving six years, he was honorably discharged. He earned the Victory Medal for his contributions to the Allied cause, as per the post. At that point you’d assume Bob would rest, but his service didn’t end there.

Over the years, Bob Miller found a different way to serve, including creating an 85 page memoir that captures his time in the military, giving readers a glimpse into his life.

Check out Bob's celebration below from WABI on YouTube.

At 101 years old, he intends to continue writing, sharing stories, and making sure the legacy of the fallen soldiers he fought with will love on, according to WABI.

Saturday’s celebration wasn’t just about Bob, it was a tribute to all the veterans. As he blew out the candles on his birthday cake, Bob’s wishes were not only of his own journey but of the countless veterans who fought for freedom but never returned.

His mission, even at this age, is crystal clear.. to honor them, to remember them, and to make sure their sacrifices are never, ever forgotten.
