According to the Fort Fairfield Police Department, 33-year-old Amanda Tompkins was charged with 10 counts of burglary from a motor vehicle, violation of conditional release, with other charges pending.

Police said the targeted vehicles were in the Payne Court, Dumond and Boundary Line Road areas, and had been left unlocked. The suspect was also believed to have entered unlocked garages to gain access to vehicles.

Fort Fairfield police made the arrest Thursday after reviewing video evidence of the suspect using stolen credit cards at area businesses. Tompkins was unable to make bail and was transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.

Police Chief Shawn Newell would like to thank the residents of Fort Fairfield for their assistance in this case.

The victims of the thefts will be contacted to have their property returned as soon as possible.
