President Obama ordered flags to be lowered on all government buildings after 50 people were killed by a lone gunman who opened fire with an assault rifle at the Pulse in Orlando early Sunday morning.

In respect for the victims, Maine Governor Paul LePage has directed the United States flag and the State of Maine flag be flown at half-staff until sunset on Thursday, June 16.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims who were killed or injured in this senseless and horrific attack," LePage said. "Ann and I send our condolences and pray for the safety and recovery of all those affected by this tragedy."
