Looking to spend a glorious winter day on the strip, smelling that sweet racing fuel aroma, watching an intense day of snowmobile drag racing?

The first-ever snowmobile drag races to be held in Houlton are scheduled for March 15th, 2015 at the Houlton International Airport! Sounds like a fun day to me!

Registration begins at 8 a.m. with racing starting at 10 a.m. There will be both snowmobile and vehicle access to the venue. There is even a $500 cash payout!

There will be several classes of racing: Stock, Improved, Pro-Stock, Mini and Vintage! Cost to race is $20 each class.

All snowmobiles must have tethers. There will be a tech on site to inspect snowmobiles before and after racing, and there is a one time $5 tech fee per snowmobile.

I had a chance to speak with Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jane Torres about the event. Here's what she had to say.

Cost for General Admission is $5; ages 10 and under get in for free.

Concessions will be available on site as well.
