The Maine Forest Service reports that fire danger in Aroostook County is high today.

There were several wild fires reported over the weekend in our area.

An accidental fire caught a garage in Island Falls on fire and was caused when a portable grill that was being used tipped over and started a wildfire in nearby grass and brush. The Maine Forest Service says no charges will be filed in this case.

On Saturday, Maine Forest Ranger Steve Wipperman stopped to check a smoke in Presque Isle on Saturday and found an escaped burn. According to the Forest Service’s Facebook, allegedly, the permit hold had not called 911 even though he had lost control of the fire. It is a state law that you report or control any dangerous fire immediately. This law was created to promoted public safety and resource protection and it is a Class D crime.
