It was another successful Family Christmas dinner this year at the Presque Isle Elks, Lodge #1954.

This was the fourteenth year that the fraternal organization has hosted the Christmas Day dinner.

Dana Dickinson, chairman of this annual Elks event, said people were filing into the Lodge as soon as the doors opened at 10:30 am. He added, by 11:00, the dining hall was nearly filled to its more than 230 person capacity.

Hors d-ouevres, salads and dinner rolls supplied by Governor's Restaurant were served prior to Presque Isle Elks Chaplain Rachel Murchison delivering the benediction. Then tomato bisque soup prepared by the Northleastland Hotel was served before meals of roast turkey or country-baked ham, with County-grown mashed potatoes, butternut squash, peas, and stuffing. Several Elks members provided a variety of baked breads. For desert there were many varieties of pies.

Musical entertainment by Yvette Stevens, Hoss, James “Sheldon” Wright, Leland Clark, and Dale Hudson was provided during the meal.

Several vehicles from Ace Rent-a-Car, North Country Auto, and Carney’s Taxi, were used to provide transportation to guests needing a ride to the Elks Lodge and to deliver meals to those unable to attend.

Before leaving,  each guest received a Christmas stocking with fruit and candy from Mrs. Santa Claus.
