The 7-6 vote came after an original motion to maintain the status quo was defeated.

In all, council considered six schools for possible closure.

A government policy states that schools can be recommended for closure if they have 100 or fewer students.

Education Minister Serge Rousselle has up to 60 days to review the recommendation.

Millville is located in York County, New Brunswick centered on the intersection of Route 104 and Route 605, situated on the Nackawic River.  The village of a little over 300 is the home of the World's Largest Artificial Maple Leaf.

The Government of New Brunswick has been considering 28 schools for closure in the initial viability study.
