Watch Donovan Woods Perform Off-Hours at Massey Hall

Canadian singer-songwriter Donovan Woods is premiering a performance of "It'll Work Itself Out," shot during off-hours at Toronto's Massey Hall, exclusively for readers of The Boot. The performance is part of the historic venue's Ghost Light Sessions series, which brings artists in to perform in the empty auditorium and keep its rumored supernatural inhabitants company.

Woods' "It'll Work Itself Out" is a song that offers a sentiment that most listeners will recognize from experience: expecting all of life’s problems to work themselves out, even if they really never do.

"I suppose this is about feeling that if you travel furiously enough, your problems won’t catch up and, ideally, will take care of themselves,” Woods tells The Boot. “This is not true."

"It'll Work Itself Out" appears on Woods' recently released EP, titled They Are Going Away. The project is a companion to his fourth studio album, 2016's Hard Settle, Ain't Troubled. Both releases are available for download on iTunes.

Woods is 2016 Polaris Music Prize nominee and a nominee for Songwriter of the Year at the 2017 Juno Awards (commonly referred to as the “Canadian Grammy Awards”). This spring, Woods will be on tour in the U.S., with dates scheduled in Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York and Virginia; additionally, on March 30, he’ll perform at Nashville’s iconic Bluebird Cafe as part of the Tin Pan South songwriters festival.
