Dolly Parton, Pentatonix Team Up for ‘Jolene’ [WATCH]

Parton recently joined forces with Cracker Barrel for a special release of her new album Pure & Simple, and the restaurant chain paired her with acclaimed a cappella group Pentatonix for the song's remake. Originally released in October of 1973, "Jolene" is one of Parton's most iconic singles, earning her multiple No. 1 chartings, the 217th spot on Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Songs of All Time," and notoriety as one of the most covered songs ever to be recorded.

With over two dozen artists from all different genres performing their own take on the song, it's hard to believe that there are many surprises left with "Jolene." But with the addition of stellar a cappella harmonies and beatboxing (yep, you heard that right!), Parton's classic tune gets a jolt of life no one even knew it was missing in the first place.

But what's so uniquely amazing about the Parton-Pentatonix performance is their ability to create something wholly new and surprisingly traditional at the very same time. Call-and-response signing, vocal riffing by Parton and hand-clapping add a new dynamic to the performance, while the original spirit of the song stays beautifully intact. Maybe it has something to do with the country roots of the Texas-based quintet or the fact that they are signing next to one of the most legendary country singers of all time, but whatever the reason, this new cover of "Jolene" might just be the most magical yet.

Speaking of magical, the CMA just released their "Forever Country" music video, bringing together a powerhouse lineup of country stars performing a medley of songs, including another huge Parton hit, "I Will Always Love You." The song ends with Parton's perfect set of pipes, paying tribute, just as the "Jolene" remake does, to an artist who has left an indelible mark on country music and will continue to for many years to come.

Parton is currently on the road promoting her 43rd studio release, Pure & Simple. The 2016 Pure & Simple Tour is Parton's first U.S. tour in 25 years and will wrap in November.
