Dierk's Bentley's upcoming new album, The Mountainisn't all about his wife, Cassidy Black, but its first single, "Woman, Amen," sure is. With its uptempo "whoah-oh-oh"s and passionate lyrics -- "I'd lose my way and I'd lose my mind if I faced one day on my own / I knew I was saved the night she gave this drifter's heart a home" -- the song makes for a perfect Valentine's Day tribute. However, Black isn't so easily impressed, Bentley revealed to the Boot and other reporters during a recent interview.

"My wife's tough, 'cause she's heard all the B.S.," Bentley explains. "I'll come home and say, 'Hey, I wrote a love song for you,' and she's like, 'Pfff. Don't pull that s--t on me! You guys are just trying to get a hit.'"

After 12 years of marriage, three children and 9 studio albums, Black is no stranger to being the subject of Bentley's hits -- she even starred in the music video for his 2016 single "Black," a song to which she also lends her last name. Bentley says that while The Mountain as a whole is more focused on themes of self-exploration and inner struggle, it was important for its first single to focus on the basis of his relationship.

"It all starts with gratitude," he said during his keynote speech at the 2018 Country Radio Seminar speech on Feb. 5. "She's the one who grounds me, who allows me to get out there and soar and chase things down. That's why it's a good place [for the album] to start, at home with her, and then branch out from there."

In the midst of the #TimesUp and #MeToo movements, Bentley also acknowledges that it's now more important than ever for women to be in the spotlight: "I don't think there can be enough ''Atta girl' songs out there right now," he says.

"It's tough to do what she does, day in and day out, and it's way more important than what I'm doing," Bentley continues, discussing Black. "She's raising these [children] to grow up to be good, kind, compassionate people. We have a way of being on the same page together."
