Det. Benjamin Campbell’s funeral is Tuesday, April 9th, 11:00 am at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.

Campbell died Wednesday morning in an accident on I-95 in Hampden. He was assisting a disabled vehicle when he was struck by a tire that came loose from a logging truck.

Flags will be flown at half-staff through Tuesday’s sunset.

Law enforcement escorted his body home to Millinocket with a long procession Thursday.

Campbell is survived by his wife and 6-month-old son. He would have been 32-years-old Monday.

Benjamin Cambell was a graduate of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in 2012. He started out as a Trooper in Northern Penobscot County and was promoted to Detective in 2017. He was also a member of Maine’s polygraph team. Campbell was from Easthampton, Massachusetts & graduated college from Westfield State University.
