Davis Found Guilty for Murder of Oakfield Couple

Matthew Davis was found guilty of murder Thursday in the 2013 deaths of Michael Kitchen and Heidi Pratt of Oakfield.

The guilty verdict on the murder charges comes a day after Davis was convicted on eight other charges, including arson, theft and criminal mischief.

According to WAGM-TV,  family members of Pratt and Kitchen were tearfully hugging the prosecuting lawyers after the verdicts were announced.

Jurors recessed for the evening Wednesday without coming up with a verdict on the murder charges and finished their deliberations Thursday morning.

Davis was tried in Washington County Superior Court in Machias after a jury was unable to be seated in Aroostook County. The 35-year old Davis, of Houlton, now awaits sentencing.
