Country Pop Bites: Vince Gill – February 28

Did you know that on this day in Country Music History in 1996 Vince Gill's "Go Rest High On That Mountain" won big  during the 38th annual Grammy awards?

It's true! He won two trophies--Best Country Song and Best Male Country Vocal Performance-- at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium.

• He was a guitarist and singer for Pure Prairie League from 1976 to 1980 and a backup singer and guitarist for Rodney Crowell from 1980 to 1984.

• He is well known for his charity work and received the CMA's 2006 Humanitarian Award.
• He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007.
• He became a full-time member of the western swing band the Time Jumpers in 2010.
