• She's the second of four children, and has an older brother, Steve, younger sister, Gina and younger brother, Marty, who plays in her band.
• Her family was a musical one, and they formed a group that called themselves "The Schiffters," and played at local dances in South-Central Kansas. After high school, she completed a semester of college, then left to join another band of family friends playing rock music full-time.
• In 1988, she married John McBride, and in 1990, they moved to Nashville.
• Both Martina and John got jobs working for Garth Brooks.
