SAD 1’s board of directors will vote early in 2016 on whether to keep, cut back or end Presque Isle High School’s three-week potato harvest break. According to the Bangor Daily News, school administrators estimate that ending the traditional break would save more than $50,000, mostly in busing costs.  Officials say only 13 percent of Presque Isle high school students worked in the potato harvest this fall. 35 percent held other jobs. 52 percent did not work at all during the break.
