An emotional UMaine football coach Joe Harasymiak met the media today to answer questions surrounding the death of freshman DB Darius Minor during a workout Tuesday afternoon on the Orono campus.

The 18-year-old player from Virginia collapsed and died about 1:15pm. Campus athletics training staff and local first responders were unable to resuscitate him.

University officials say cause of death has not been determined yet. Minor did pass a school physical before freshman workouts began three weeks ago.

Coach Harasymiak said he was able to speak to the family in Virginia this morning to say that 'the program and university is here for them in anything they need.'

All players have now left the campus to go home for a few days before training camp begins next Wednesday.

UMaine's first game is August 30th, a home game vs New Hampshire.
