"Losing Sleep," Chris Young's first single from his forthcoming new album, brings with it a sound that is edgier and more contemporary than what fans are used to hearing from the country star. Click play below to listen to the sexy new track.

Fueled by the boom-tap of a contemporary drum machine, "Losing Sleep" infuses a hearty dose of pop into Young's music, while his deep country timbre keeps him firmly planted in the genre. Written by Young, Chris DeStefano and Josh Hoge, "Losing Sleep" is full of layered verses that slowly build into a crashing chorus, giving Young room to breathe and let loose with each round.

"Fall into me / Let me breathe the air you breathe / I can take you anywhere you wanna be," Young sings in "Losing Sleep." "When it comes to us / Every single touch is something special / When we’re wrapped up in those sheets / Yeah, we’re winning when we’re losing / When we’re losing sleep."

"Losing Sleep" follows a string of No. 1 hits for Young, including his 2016 duet with Cassadee Pope on "Think of You" and, most recently, his collaboration with Vince Gill for "Sober Saturday Night." Young currently has nine total chart-topping tunes to his name.

How Well Do You REALLY Know Chris Young?

“You don’t want to make the same song over and over or the same sounds over and over on every record,” Young says of "Losing Sleep," (quote via the Tennessean). “I think it’s still very much me. I don’t think anyone is going to hear it and think it doesn’t sound like me as an artist. It’s very, very forward production wise, and, definitely once the chorus hits, it’s a tempo. It’s a nice balance, and I think you have to have all of that.”

As the debut single from Young's next record, "Losing Sleep" sets the tone for the singer's seventh studio album, both sonically and lyrically. Young co-wrote every song on the upcoming disc, pairing up with longtime collaborators as well as songwriters he's never written with before to craft a new sound that feels fresh and familiar at the same time.

“It was really a blend of trying to keep a lot of the parts on the last record that made it special, but add to it,” he says. “I’m just excited people are going to have new music … and for it to be something I’m vocally proud of -- I’m proud of as a songwriter and a producer. I hope everybody just enjoys it.”
