Caribou’s Parker Deprey Named Athlete Of The Week
Parker Deprey of Caribou has been named First National Bank High School Athlete of the Week after leading his team to a Class B North title.
Deprey, who won with 37 percent of the vote, scored a game-high 19 points in the Vikings' 43-40 victory over the Hermon Hawks.
The win snapped the Hawks' 42-game winning streak and set up a Class B state title game between Caribou and Cape Elizabeth.
Deprey, a junior, has played well throughout the tournament, scoring 18 points against Ellsworth in the semifinals and 25 against Washington Academy in the quarterfinals.
Other nominees this week included Lexi Ireland of Penobscot Valley, Bailey Donovan of Hampden, Sydney Brewer of Southern Aroostook, Julia Watras of MDI, Travis Thompson of Schenck and Matt Fleming of Bangor.
Matt Fleming of Bangor, Orono's Connor Robertson, Bangor's Nick Boudreau, Rowan Andrews of Bangor, David Gross of Bucksport, Old Town's Lexi Thibodeau, Kory Winch of Hampden and Colby McLean of Sumner Memorial High School have also earned Athlete of the Week honors during the 2018-19 winter sports season.
