Canaan Smith is officially a dad to a baby girl! The singer shared the good news via Instagram on Friday (Nov. 1), posting a video of his infant daughter sleeping soundly alongside her mom, Smith's wife Christy, in a hospital room.

"I've tried putting words to this but keep erasing them cause nothing says it," he wrote. "For now I'll just say thank you Jesus for the precious gift of life and unconditional love. Virginia Rose is perfect inside out. And so is her mom."

The couple opted not to find out the gender of their baby prior to delivery. In September, when they broke the news of Christy's pregnancy, they explained to People why they decided to wait to learn whether their first child would be a boy or a girl. "We love surprises and we are waiting to find out [the sex] in the delivery room," Smith said.

Meanwhile, the singer also celebrated the pregnancy with the release of a new song, "Life Ain't Fair." Co-written with Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard along with Corey Crowder, Smith's new tune tributes his wife. The sentiment of the track flips the script of the usual complaint, "life ain't fair," arguing that if everyone got what they deserved, Smith would never have gotten so lucky as to land his wonderful wife. An accompanying music video showcases Christy's pregnancy.

Canaan and Christy Smith have been married since 2014. Most recently, the singer dropped his rowdy new "Pour Decisions." An ode to having fun and blowing off responsibilities in favor of a good time, that tune may not reflect much of his personal life at home with a newborn, but it is sure to be a crowd-pleaser during Smith's upcoming live shows.
