When you think of camping you probably think of a tent on the ground, maybe a nice fire at night, surrounded by nature and not much else.

Well, Sandy Pines Campgrounds in Kennebunkport has stepped up the camping game so hard they had to create a word for it. "Glamping." It's glamorous camping and it sounds absolutely amazing. According to their websiteEach tent offers 430 square feet of uniquely designed space; all feature a king sized bed, seating area, deck with seating and access to a shared bath house. Tents will be situated on a wooden deck, which will act as both platform for the interior, and outside seating area. Some tents also feature 10 x 12 teepees, perfect for families. Included in the nightly rate are:

  • Sheets, pillows, blankets, &  towels
  • Small heater/fan
  • Bath amenities
  • Mini fridge

Formally the Salty Acres Campgrounds, Sandy Pines was bought last summer and renovated to the tune of 5 million dollars, updating the water, sewer, and electric infrastructure. The new camp site will include a general store, an old-fashioned ice cream cart, a heated saltwater pool, a farm stand, bike, paddle board, and kayak rentals, a playground, a craft tent for kids, and a lobster delivery service. Yup, you can have lobster delivered to your Glam Tent either precooked, or alive so you can cook 'em up yourself!

Sandy Pines plans to have 12 glamp tents available this summer, 2 to rent, and 10 to buy, for a cool $15,000. The Glam Tents will be unveiled on June 23rd at a charity event so until then we can check out a few of the floor plans.
