Brandon Lay's music career is taking off, but you wont ever find his head in the clouds if wife Nicole Jordan has anything to say about it.

Lay is a rising star with a cut on Cole Swindell's You Should Be Here album, who is currently on a radio tour across the country while also serving as an opening act for Old Dominion throughout the fall. Though his career has plenty of momentum, the ToC RISERS act reveals to Taste of Country Nights that his ego is "definitely not out of control," especially with his wife's support.

"I'm really lucky to have her because she's so focused and grounded and when you get home, it's kind of a crazy whirlwind time, so I'm thankful for her," Lay says of Jordan, who was crowned Miss Tennessee in 2010.

Lay actually met his wife at the Miss Lexington beauty pageant when his friend accidentally played matchmaker, asking the singer to perform during the pageant's intermission. He met his future wife backstage, and they married in 2012. While they've both remained grounded, Lay also says that they've grown over time, as most people do.

"I think it's just natural," he says.

His 2017 mini-EP, Speakersis available now and features two tracks: “Let It” and his debut single “Speakers, Bleachers and Preachers.” But his most personal song is called "You Don’t Want Me Loving You."

“I wrote that after a pretty rough label showcase a few years ago," he explains. "The highs and lows of music can pull out some pretty good stuff. That’s where that song came from. Luckily for me my wife does love me, but that song for me is the most personal.”

Taste of Country Nights is a syndicated night show which airs on nearly 100 radio stations nationwide. Listen to highlights on iTunes or your Android device.
